Woman caught on tape buying prepaid credit card with stolen credit card

Southeastern MA crime spree spans Warham, Plymouth, New Bedford and North Dartmouth

WAREHAM - A North Dartmouth woman was arrested last week and charged with breaking into a car in Wareham, stealing a credit card and using that card illegally.  According to a Wareham police release, authorities caught up with 30-year-old Kristen Lynn Dacosta, of 22 College Lane, Apt. A in North Darmouth, after she was caught on surveillance in a New Bedford store using a stolen credit card to purchase a $500 prepaid credit card.

Police arrested Dacosta at her apartment after finding her hiding in a closet. While searching her apartment, police also recovered jewelry stolen during a break-in at a Plymouth home.

Dacosta was charged by Wareham police with illegal entry of a vehicle, credit card theft and improper use of a credit card over $250.  She may also face additional charges after Darmouth and Plymouth police finish their investigation into the stolen jewelry.

Kristen Lynn Dacosta was arraigned in Wareham Fourth District Court following her arrest.
