Wareham woman finds husband at fatal 495 crash scene

Wife knew something was wrong--went out searching for her husband

Christopher Elicier killed by wrong way driver on 495

Local news outlets report today that 43-year-old Christopher Elicier of Wareham was killed late Saturday night in a head-on collision on Route 495 between Exits 1 and 2.  Elicier was headed to work at the Taunton State Hospital.

Phendy Pamphile of Brockton, the operator of the other car, was driving the wrong way in the northbound lane when the two cars collided. Pamphile, 26, was trapped in his Lexus and removed by Wareham firefighters with the Jaws of Life.  Elicier was ejected from his Hyundai and pronounced dead at the scene, according to SouthCoastToday.com. Neither man was wearing a seat belt, according to officials.

The Boston Herald reports that Elicier's wife Cathleen became concerned when she could not reach him.  She got in her car to search for him and came up on the fatal crash.

Although not ruled out as a factor in the fatal crash, there was no initial indication of alcohol being involved, State Police said.
