Wareham cop files suit against town
Claims he was targeted by selectmen
A Wareham police lieutenant who was reinstated to his job after the state civil service commission decided he was wrongfully terminated is filing suit against several former town officials.
According to Wareham Week, Police Lieutenant Donald Bliss has filed suit against former interim Town Administrator John Sanguinet, and former selectmen Bruce Sauvageau, M. Jane Donahue, Brenda Eckstrom, John Cronan and James Potter.
Bliss was fired by Sanguinet in 2009 for allegedly using his town-issued cell phone improperly. The lawsuit alleges his firing stemmed from a decision to promote him over another officer.
During the time he was not working for the Wareham police, Bliss started a private investigation service and used car dealership, according to his profile on Linkedin. Bliss also works as an agent for Jack Conway Realty in Matttapoisett. He was reinstated to his post in June, but has not been working for most of that time, due to medical issues and vacation time.
