Two arrested after allegedly stabbing man in neck, hand in Onset

Two suspects under arrest, one charged with assault intent to murder

WAREHAM - A man and woman have been arrested following an early morning stabbing in Wareham Saturday. According to a Wareham police release, a man suffering from stab wounds to his neck and hand walked into Tobey Hospital in Wareham just after 2 a.m.

The 37-year-old victim was treated at Tobey then transferred to the trauma center at Rhode Island Hospital.

Police learned that the victim was attacked at 73 North Eleventh Street in Onset.  Upon arrival, officers arrested a resident of that address, 37-year-old Tammy Mattos, police said.

An investigation conducted by Wareham officers and detectives revealed the alleged involvement of a second suspect, 34-year-old Matthew Brow of 210 Miller Street in Middleboro.  With the assistance of Middleboro police, Brow was taken into custody at his home around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mattos and Brow have both been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Additionally, Brow was charged with assault with intent to murder. The pair were arraigned in Wareham Fourth District Court on Monday.

Police have yet to reveal a motive for the attack.  The status of the unidentified victim is unknown at this time.
