Student taken to hospital after Wareham school bus accident

Happens a week after similar incident

WAREHAM-A town school bus was involved in an accident on Marion Road Friday afternoon.

According to a police statement, a 17-year-old student, who was the only passenger, was taken to Tobey Hospital complaining of neck pain. The bus was hit from the rear by a 2002 Doge Neon, causing extensive damage to the front of the car. The bus was stopped, waiting to turn onto Viking Drive.

The driver of the Neon, Drew Sylvia, 18, of East Wareham was cited for operating within 100 feet of a school bus. Neither he, or the bus driver, were hurt. .

The Neon was towed from the scene, the school bus resumed its route.

This is the second accident involving a Wareham school bus in the last week.
