Romney gets a Midwest whipping
Romney Takes A Whipping Over 3 States
Only a French woman can really understand American politics
Iwas actually laying off politics to focus on important stuff like the Super Bowl. This ended when what was a slow and dull coronation of Mitt Romney suddenly turned into Mitt being handed his hat over 3 states by Rick Santorum. Mitt even got lapped by Ron Paul in one state.

This CNN Missouri result is an example of the magnitude of The Mittster's loss.
Major Boo-boo
In this screen shot of today's CNN coverage, Rick Santorum's Super Pac backer, Foster Freiss, is shown on stage behind the candidate - who he is never suposed to communicate with to comply with election laws.
Friess is a wealthy businessman and a bankroller of many conservative causes. His donations to the pro-Santorum Red White And Blue super PAC have, more or less, given it the money needed to run the few ads it's aired. Among those ads include spots attacking former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in Minnesota, another state that Santorum won on Tuesday.
The campaign and the super PAC cannot legally coordinate.
Middle America is turning Green for Rick.
The other thing we see in these three contests is that Newt Gingrich has lost his South Carolina momentum, as he took a three state beating yesterday.
Here are the numbers:
MISSOURI
Santorum.. 55%
Romney... 25%
Paul... 12%
COLORADO
Santorum... 45%
Romney... 35%
Gingrich... 13%
Paul... 12%
MINNESOTA
Santorum... 45%
Paul... 27%
Romney... 17%
Gingrich... 11%
While Willard and Newt fight...
Santorum won caucuses in Minnesota and Colorado, and a nonbinding primary in Missouri.
He seems to be the one who gained the most from the recent Romney/Gingrich negative campaigning. I'd feel very badly for America if the best thing they can counter Obama with is this Santorum guy and his odd religious views. Know that, regardless of what I think of him, he has 4 states in his pocket in a race where no one else has more than 3.
Let's you and him fight
Romney seems determined to blow his huge cash advantage. Many people feel he is too moderate to both A) prevail against President Barack Obama and B) fix the USA. Others worry that it may be hard to campaign an ultra-elite vulture capitalist (who was dumb enough to say on camera that he doesn't care about the poor) during a belt-tightening recession. For all his millions of dollars, he has only been able to win Nevada, New Hampshire, and Florida.
Newt Gingrich got dissed like a roach early, rallied to win South Carolina, and then started taking a beating again. While he has pleny of name recognition, said name is associated with being a chickenhawk, a chronic philanderer, a liar, and the guy Clinton had to roll over to balance the budget. The best I can say about Newt is that he won a state after I dismissed him before, and he can do it again for all that I know.
Ron Paul continues to lose states, although he has the very real possibility of being the last man standing after Romney's fat cash cow starts taking aim at Santorum. It's a Royal Rumble sort of strategy... lay back in the corner while the bruisers eliminate each other, and then pounce on the tired finalist like a jackal. Personally, he's the only GOP who I could bring myself to vote for against Obama.
VOTE in our POLLWhile I'm not a Republican, this sure has been a fine contest to cover. Lots of venom, wild lead changes, strong personalities, and feast-or-famine high stakes. The next action is February 28th, as Michigan and Arizona hold their 10-delegate closed primaries. Washington (state) goes down on March 3rd.
Super Tuesday (March 6th) sees action in Alaska (27), Georgia (76), Idaho (32), Massachusetts (41), North Dakota (28), Ohio (66), Oklahoma (43), Tennessee (58), Vermont (17), and Virginia (49) – a total of 437 delegates, which is one-fifth of all delegates (info from Wikipedia).
We'll do our best to keep you informed.
