State Rep. Dan Webster (R-Hanson) has been hit with a series of Federal Tax Liens taken out against both him and his business for failure to pay federal taxes, court records show.

Ironically Webster was served process by a Special Sheriff from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Dept. led by fellow Republican Joseph MacDonald. The federal tax liens include a 2008 tax lien for $13,627, a 2009 tax lien for $6,658.07 and a 2010 lien for $57.46, according to Registry of Deeds documents from Plymouth and Norfolk counties. The liens are against Webster personally as well as his law practice.

Records show Webster was also hit with a civil judgment for $1,366.05 in 2008 by an asset recovery auctioneer in Springfield, Mass. Ironically Webster was served process by a Special Sheriff from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department led by fellow Republican Joseph MacDonald. See the sheriff's process below.

It’s the latest in a string of financial missteps facing the Hanson state representative.

On Monday, Webster was defaulted by Brockton Superior Court Judge Charles Healy and ordered to pay $191,000 to Rockland Trust Bank, including interest and attorney’s fees, over a disputed land deal that went bust in Bridgewater.

The Boston Herald recently reported that Webster and his business owe thousands of dollars in federal tax liens and that Webster himself had his driver's licenses suspended. According to RMV records, the registry suspended his license on March 23, 2009 for a period of one month for non-payment of delinquent fees.

South Shore politicos say this should either get Webster to bow out of politics gracefully to save the Republican Party further embarrassment since his series of financial missteps run contrary to what his party sands for.

His opponent in 2010, Josh Cutler, publisher of the Duxbury Clipper, has announced he will run against Webster again for the Plymouth 6th State Representative seat which is made up of of Precincts 2, 3, 4 & 5 in the Town of Duxbury, precinct 2 in the Town of Halifax, the Town of Hanson, and the Town of Pembroke.
