Polito = a vote for the reality check we need

To the Editor:

I immigrated, legally, to the United States over 35 years ago, and have worked hard, paid my taxes, and partnered with my husband to balance our family budget through good times and bad. As a voter in Massachusetts, I am frustrated time and time again when I hear about how the State House operates in its own little bubble- they spend whatever they want to spend in good times and bad, and it’s always too much. This is not how my family operates, and I’m sure it’s not how any other family or business operates, which is why we need to elect Karyn Polito as our State Treasurer.

Karyn is a fiscal conservative who has vowed to use the power of Treasurer to protect our state from overspending.

Karyn is a fiscal conservative who has vowed to use the power of Treasurer to protect our state from overspending. She will refuse to sign any bond borrowing that includes unnecessary funds, will not approve any new non-emergency building projects, and will not request an increase in funding for lottery advertising. She will also revamp how state pensions are managed to save money and has removed herself from the state pension system to avoid any conflicts of interest.

These are the kinds of things our families and businesses do in tough times: we stop increasing our debt, we deny ourselves of unnecessary purchases, we limit our spending on current activities, and we reorganize how we do things to save money. This is why we need Karyn Polito to be our next State Treasurer, and why I will vote for her on November 2nd.
