One injured in Wareham Neon vs. school bus Friday

17-year student on bus transported to Tobey Hospital

WAREHAM - A 17-year-old student was injured Friday, February 3, when the driver of a 2002 Dodge Neon crashed into the back his school bus.  Around 2:30 p.m., 18-year-old Drew Sylvia of East Wareham, crashed his Neon into the back of the school bus on Marion Road at Viking Drive.

The bus driver was waiting to turn left onto Viking Drive when Sylvia struck the bus, according to police.

The 17-year-old boy, the only passenger on the bus, was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham after complaining of neck pain. Neither of the drivers was injured in the crash, police said.

Sylvia was issued a citation for operating within 100 feet of the rear of a school bus. Due to extensive damage, his car was towed from the scene, according to police. The bus driver was able to continue on his way.
