One arrested in Wareham motor vehicle stop, 14 baggies of heroin seized

WAREHAM - Working a tip from a concerned resident, an alleged heroin dealer was arrested Monday after being pulled over by Wareham detectives.  According to a Wareham police release, detectives received information about illegal drug activity in the Swifts Beach area of town.

Acting on the tip, Joeyna Barber, 41, of 173 Swifts Beach Road, was stopped by detectives.  Barber, who was driving with a suspended license, initially provided the detectives with a fake ID and a false name.

Barber was placed under arrest and transported to the Wareham Police Station for booking. During processing, officers located fourteen small baggies of heroin and two yet-to-be identified pills on Barber's person, police said.

She was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance (heroin), possessoin of a Class B substance (opiates), operating after license suspension, providing a false name and speeding.

Barber was arraigned in Wareham Fourth District Court on Tuesday.
