Coast Guard terminates Bank Tank's voyage
Insufficient safety equipment ends voyage Sunday
Sunday the Coast Guard Cutter Tybee law enforcement team terminated the voyage of the Bank Tank, a Plymouth, MA-based fishing vessel. The team conducted a routine boarding on Cape Cod Bay and during an inspection, discovered the vessel did not have a sufficient number of immersion suits.
There were five crew members aboard the 38 ft. Bank Tank and only four immersion suits, according to the USCG. In emergencies, immersion suits protect mariners from the elements, even during summer months when water temperature remains low.
The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Tybee escorted the Bank Tank back to Plymouth.
