Op Ed

An op-ed is a piece of writing, expressing an opinion. The name originated from the tradition of newspapers placing each columns on the page opposite to the editorial page. Thus the term "op-ed" is simply a combination of "opposite" and "editorial." We welcome submissions from our readers sent to editor@plymouthdailynews.com.

By David A. Mittell, Jr.

Being a journalist and a child of the 1960's I had seen myself as practiced in talking back. But exhausted, only wanting to get home, and fearing that a hint of defiance would lead to hours of detention, I melted abjectly.
